Khon Kaen City Municipality and Network Partners Receive First Place Award for Outstanding Local Administrative Organization in Good Governance for Fiscal Year 2024

On Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at 1:30 PM, at Wayupak Grand Ballroom, 4th Floor, Centara Life Government Center & Convention Center, Chaeng Watthana, Laksi District, Bangkok, Mr. Teerasak Theekhayuphan, Mayor of Khon Kaen City Municipality, received the First Place Award for Outstanding Local Administrative Organization in Good Governance for 2024.

The event was attended by Mr. Nattakorn Srinawakul (Secretary to the Mayor), Mr. Warin Ekburin (Municipal Council Member), Ms. Krisana Saensaad (Deputy Municipal Clerk), Mr. Arthit Kaewmanee (Director of the Education Office), Ms. Inthira Kharajaroen (Director of the Strategy and Budget Division), education supervisors, teachers, and municipal staff.

Additionally, representatives from network partner organizations participated, including: Dr. Channarong Chaiyudom, Deputy Director of the Northeastern Child and Adolescent Mental Health Institute Dr. Wanlapa Boonpromma, Specialist Physician at Khon Kaen Hospital Ms. Sansanee Chailangka, Senior Psychiatric Nurse at Khon Kaen Hospital Ms. Panisara Nantawong, Senior Special Education Academic from the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Institute

The ceremony was presided over by Prime Minister Ms. Paetongtarn Shinawatra, with a report delivered by Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Suriya Juangroongruangkit, who also serves as Chairman of the Decentralization Committee for Local Administrative Organizations.

The Good Governance Awards for Local Administrative Organizations are organized by the Office of the Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office and the Decentralization Committee. The awards aim to promote transparency, accountability, and effective governance within local administrative organizations. This prestigious recognition serves as an incentive for local governments to enhance their governance, public service efficiency, and responsiveness to citizens' needs.

Since its inception in 2003, the award has been granted for 22 consecutive years. This year, 21 local administrative organizations received first, second, and third-place awards, while 44 organizations received honorable mentions.

Their collaborative efforts in implementing a student support system project, which integrates teachers, doctors, and parents to assist students with learning difficulties, contributed to Khon Kaen City Municipality winning the First Place Award for Outstanding Local Administrative Organization in Good Governance for 2024.
